Brewery Beef is Better:

BETTER QUALITY: Produced on a smaller scale with an emphasis on animal care and sustainability throughout the process.

BETTER FLAVOR: Freshness you can taste from a consistent source

while supporting the local economy from the ranchers and butchers to the cooks, servers and customers, everyone wins.

GRASS FED- GRAIN FINISHED: The best of both worlds, our beef is pasture raised on grass, then finished with brewery grain for the best quality and taste.

REDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: We save 200,000 miles of travel by keeping the cattle in Nevada for their entire life.

FULL CIRCLE: The beer you enjoy today will help feed the cattle for your next meal.

At Great Basin Brewing Company, we are thrilled to share an exciting development that takes our commitment to sustainability and local sourcing to the next level. In collaboration with our friends and partners at Park Ranch Meats, we’ve launched an innovative Closed Loop Food System that embodies the essence of the ranch-to-table concept, all under the expert guidance of acclaimed Chef Mark Estee.

This Closed Loop Food System is a true testament to our dedication to sustainability and innovation. By partnering with Park Ranch Meats, we’re not just serving food; we’re supporting local ranchers, creating jobs, and offering our community the opportunity to enjoy quality meat from trusted, locally sourced ranches.

We’re incredibly proud of this accomplishment and excited to be at the forefront of a movement that is revolutionizing the dining scene in Nevada. Under Chef Mark Estee’s leadership, this initiative not only enhances our sustainability efforts but also strengthens the bond between our brewery, the local agricultural community, and our patrons. Cheers to a more sustainable future!

Here’s How it Works:

Crafting Award-Winning Beer: It all starts with the grain. At Great Basin, we pride ourselves on crafting award-winning beers that our patrons love. But what happens to that grain after the brewing process is equally important.

Spent Grain Feeds Park Ranch Meats Cattle: After brewing, the spent grain—rich in nutrients and flavor—doesn’t go to waste. Park Ranch Meats picks up this spent grain and feeds it to their locally raised cattle. This sustainable practice not only reduces waste but also ensures that the cattle are nourished with high-quality feed.

Processing and Butchering: Once their cattle are ready, they are processed and butchered at Park Ranch Meats USDA-certified facility in Minden, NV. This step ensures that the meat is handled with the utmost care and meets the highest standards of quality.

Serving Up Brewery-Finished Beef: The beef then makes its way back to us, where our patrons can savor the unique experience of enjoying locally raised, brewery-finished beef. It’s a full-circle moment: the same grain that helped create your favorite beer also contributed to the flavor and quality of the beef on your plate.
